Correctly installing and locking your battery helps prevent movement, poor electrical contact, or the battery coming loose while riding. Follow the steps below to confirm that the battery mount and locking mechanism are working properly.

1. Inspect the Battery Base and Locking Tongue

1. Locate the battery base on the bike frame.
2. Confirm that all five mounting screws are present and secure.
3. Check that the locking tongue moves smoothly and is not stuck, damaged, or obstructed.

If a screw is missing, the mount is damaged, or the locking tongue does not move freely, stop and contact FavoriteBikes Support before riding.

2. Insert the Bottom of the Battery

1. Hold the battery securely with both hands.
2. Point the end with the two plastic protrusions downward.
3. Insert those protrusions into the groove in the lower battery base.
4. Make sure the bottom of the battery is seated completely before pressing the upper portion into place.

3. Press the Battery Into the Locked Position

1. Press down firmly on the upper part of the battery with both hands.
2. Continue pressing until you hear or feel a clear click.
3. Press down once more to make sure the locking tongue is fully engaged.

4. Confirm That the Battery Is Fully Locked

If the Battery Is Not Fully Locked

• The key may rotate back and forth through a wide angle with little resistance.
• The locking tongue may not pop out or engage.
• Press firmly on the upper part of the battery again until the lock engages.

If the Battery Is Fully Locked

• The key will meet noticeable resistance during rotation.
• The key will spring back toward the locked position.
• The battery should remain firmly seated without visible movement.

5. Complete a Final Safety Check

1. Remove the key before riding.
2. Gently pull and push the battery to confirm that it does not lift out or move excessively.
3. Confirm that the battery is flush with the mount and the lock remains engaged.
