Why Does the Battery Drain When the Bike is Turned Off?

It might seem strange that a battery would drain even when your bike is turned off, but this can happen due to several reasons:

Background System Power Use: Many modern electric bikes, like the FavoriteBikes, come with advanced electronics that continue to use a small amount of power even when the bike is turned off. Features like Bluetooth connectivity, the wireless unlock system, and other standby functions may still draw minimal power to maintain readiness.

Display and Control System Standby: The display system and controllers on an e-bike often remain on standby for a period to ensure a quick startup when you want to ride again. During this time, the system is not fully off, and this can slowly draw power from the battery.

Battery Management System (BMS) Consumption: The Battery Management System (BMS) is an integral part of most e-bike batteries. It monitors the health and safety of the battery cells, and this monitoring may continue even when the bike appears to be off, which could cause slight drainage.

Setting the Shutdown Timer to 1 Day
One way to reduce unwanted battery drain is to adjust the shutdown timer. The FavoriteBikes offers customizable settings to manage this effectively. The shutdown timer is the period after which your bike fully powers down its system, minimizing any battery drain.

For example, you can set the bike to automatically shut down after one day of inactivity. This setting ensures that any features that may still be drawing power will be fully powered off, preserving as much battery life as possible. Here’s how you can adjust this setting:

How to Set the Shutdown Timer to 1 Day

  • Access the Display Menu: Double-press the menu button to access the settings.

  • Navigate to Basic Settings: Press the "M" button again to enter the basic settings menu.

Select Shutdown Time: In System Settings, locate the "Shutdown Setting" option. Press the "-" or "+" button to highlight it, then press "M" to access the shutdown options.组 290.png

Set to 1 Day: Use the "+" or "-" buttons to adjust the shutdown timer to "1 Day." This setting will ensure that after 24 hours of inactivity, the bike will fully power down, helping to conserve battery power.

  • Save and Exit: Press the "M" button to confirm the selection, then press the power button twice to return to the main dashboard.
