Use the battery and charger instructions supplied with your exact bike/battery version. Temperature, storage conditions, moisture and battery condition can affect performance and safety.
Everyday care
- Use the correct approved charger. Keep the battery, charger and charging connections dry, and charge in an appropriate ventilated location away from heat and combustible materials.
- Switch off the bike before removing or reinstalling the battery. Support it with both hands, do not force the lock, and make sure it is securely seated and locked before riding.
- Inspect the battery, port, cables and mount for damage. Do not open the battery or apply lubricants or cleaners to electrical contacts unless the manufacturer specifies the product and procedure.
- Avoid hot vehicles and direct heat. After freezing exposure, allow natural indoor warming and dry connections before charging.
- If the battery is swollen, leaking, unusually hot, damaged or smells abnormal, stop use and charging and contact support. For smoke, fire or immediate danger, move away and contact emergency services.
Long-term storage: use the instructions for your model
For Hybrid CSC and StormX covered by the 2025 Version 02 manuals linked below, the Long-Term Battery Storage section specifies:
- Charge to approximately 75%, switch off the bike and remove the battery for storage.
- Store in a dry, temperature-controlled location between 0°C and 40°C (32°F to 104°F).
- Check the battery monthly and top up to approximately 75% as needed, following the full storage and charging instructions in your supplied manual. Do not leave it fully discharged.
This model-specific storage instruction replaces conflicting general storage percentages in older articles. It is not a universal setting for every FavoriteBikes battery version. If your manual or battery differs, contact support to confirm the correct instructions. The storage target is not the required charge level for a long ride.
For Hybrid CSC and StormX covered by the linked 2025 manuals: use the bike only between −20°C and 45°C (−4°F to 113°F), and charge only at ambient temperatures between 0°C and 40°C (32°F to 104°F). −20°C is already the lower operating limit, not a promise of unchanged performance or safe ice traction. See Hybrid CSC / StormX operating-temperature limits and cold-weather checks. Other bike or battery versions must follow their own supplied manuals.
Before riding again after storage
Inspect the battery and connections, follow the manual's charging instructions, and complete the Pre-ride and after-storage safety checks. Check brakes, tire pressure and condition, wheels, steering, cables and lights. If anything is damaged or uncertain, have it inspected before riding.
