ONYX RCR80V Front Fork Oil Top-Up Guide

This guide explains how to add fork oil to the front fork on the ONYX RCR80V. This article applies only to the ONYX RCR80V and does not apply to other FavoriteBikes models.

For safety, we recommend doing this with two people: one person performs the fork oil top-up, while the second person holds and stabilizes the bike to prevent it from tipping or moving.

Tools and Materials Needed

Note: The product links above are examples only. Equivalent tools with the same specifications may also be used.

Safety Before You Start

  • Work on a flat, stable surface.
  • Turn the bike off before starting.
  • Make sure the bike is stable before loosening any fork caps.
  • Have a second person hold the bike steady while the front wheel is lifted.
  • Do not place your hands or feet under the wheel while the bike is lifted.
  • Do not fully remove both fork top caps at the same time unless the bike is properly supported.
  • If the bike feels unstable at any point, stop and lower the bike safely.

Step 1: Lift the Front Wheel Slightly

  1. Place the small scissor jack under the bottom service plate of the bike.
  2. Slowly raise the bike until the front wheel is lifted about 5–10 cm off the ground.
  3. Check that the bike is stable before continuing.

Step 2: Loosen the Front Fork Top Caps

  1. Use the 19 mm wrench to loosen the fork top caps.
  2. Loosen the caps gradually and evenly, alternating between the left and right sides.
  3. Do not force the caps. Loosen them only enough to create enough space to insert the fork oil tool nozzle.

Step 3: Add 15W Fork Oil

  1. Use 15W fork oil.
  2. Insert the fork oil tool nozzle into one fork tube opening.
  3. Add approximately 25 ml of fork oil into that side.
  4. Repeat the same process on the other fork tube.
  5. Each fork tube should receive approximately 25 ml of 15W fork oil.

Important: Do not overfill the fork. Adding too much oil may affect fork movement and ride comfort.

Step 4: Tighten the Fork Top Caps

  1. After adding the fork oil, carefully tighten both fork top caps.
  2. Use the 19 mm wrench to secure the caps evenly.
  3. The recommended tightening torque is approximately 25 Nm.

Step 5: Lower the Bike and Test the Fork

  1. Slowly lower the scissor jack until the front wheel is back on the ground.
  2. Remove the jack from under the bike.
  3. Gently compress the front fork several times to check the feel.
  4. Take a short, careful test ride in a safe area and confirm that the front fork feels more comfortable.
