Replace the Rear Rack on Your FavoriteBikes Hybrid CSC

Replacing the rear rack on your FavoriteBikes Hybrid CSC is a straightforward process that you can easily do with just a few tools. This guide will walk you through each step, from accessing the connector to installing the new rear rack.

Tools You’ll Need:

  • Y Allen wrench

Step 1: Access the Connector at the Bottom of the Bike

The first step in replacing the rear rack is to access the water-tight quick disconnector located on the bottom of the bike. This connector links the rear rack's integrated components, such as the rear light, to the bike’s electrical system.

Locate the connector on the underside of the bike, as shown in the photo below. Once found, disconnect it by pulling the two ends apart gently, being careful not to tug too hard on the wires.

Step 2: Remove the Rear Rack Screws

Next, you’ll want to remove the screws that hold the rear rack to the bike frame. Using your 4mm Allen wrench, carefully unscrew these screws and keep them in a safe place, as you’ll need them to install the new rack. Refer to the image below to see the exact location of the screws.

Step 3: Remove the Rear Rack

Once the screws are removed, you can now lift the rear rack off the bike. Be cautious when removing the rack to ensure that no wires are tangled or caught. With the rack removed, inspect the mounting points on the frame to make sure they are clean and free of any debris.

Step 4: Install the New Rear Rack

Now that the old rack is off, it's time to install the new one. Line up the new rear rack with the mounting points on the bike frame. Use the same screws you removed earlier to attach the new rack securely to the bike. Tighten the screws with your Allen wrench, but avoid overtightening to prevent damage to the frame or the rack.

Once the rack is securely in place, reconnect the water-tight quick disconnector at the bottom of the bike to restore power to any rear rack accessories, such as lights. Make sure the connection is snug and secure.

Step 5: Center the Rack Using Adjustment Brackets

After attaching the new rear rack, you’ll need to center it using the two adjustment brackets. These brackets are located on the top of the rack. Adjust the brackets until the rack is centered and sits evenly over the rear tire.

Once the rack is properly aligned, use the screws at the top of the rack to secure it in place. Tighten the screws, ensuring the rack is stable and well-centered. This step is crucial for stability and proper load distribution.

Step 6: Reconnect the Electrical Connector

With the rack secured, reconnect the water-tight quick disconnector located at the bottom of the bike. Ensure the connection is firm. Use zip ties to secure the cables in place.

Step 7: Final Check

After completing the installation, give the rack one final inspection. Ensure all screws are tight, the rack is centered, and any electrical components are functioning properly. Once everything checks out, you're ready to enjoy your new rear rack!
