How to Prevent Your Foot from Hitting the Kickstand on Your E-Bike

Solve Your Kickstand Foot Clearance Issue

If you've noticed that your foot occasionally hits the kickstand while riding your e-bike, you're not alone. This is a common experience for many riders, but the good news is that there's a simple fix! By adding a spacer between the kickstand flange and the bike frame, you can create more clearance for your foot and enjoy a more comfortable ride.

Customizing Your Bike for the Perfect Fit

Every rider is different, from foot size to riding style, so it’s perfectly normal to make small adjustments to your bike to achieve the best fit. This isn’t a design flaw—it’s about tailoring your bike to suit your individual needs. Just as you might adjust your seat height or handlebar position, modifying the kickstand setup ensures your e-bike is perfectly customized for you.

What You'll Need

To solve this issue, you’ll need just a couple of items:

Step-by-Step Installation Guide

Step 1: Identify the Kickstand Flange
Locate the kickstand where it attaches to the bike frame. This is the area where you’ll be adding the spacer.

Step 2: Remove the Kickstand
Use a suitable tool to unscrew the kickstand from the frame. Be sure to keep the screws safe, as you'll need them to reattach the kickstand.

Step 3: Insert the Spacer
Place the 6mm M6 screw spacer between the kickstand flange and the bike frame. The spacer will push the kickstand inward, creating more foot clearance.Hybrid CSC1.42.png

Step 4: Reattach the Kickstand
Line up the kickstand with the spacer and the frame, then use the M6 screws to securely fasten it in place.

Step 5: Test the Clearance
Once everything is securely tightened, test the clearance by sitting on the bike and placing your foot near the kickstand. You should notice that there’s now more room, preventing your shoe from hitting the kickstand.

Step 6: Additional Adjustment if Needed
If you find that the 6mm spacer isn’t providing enough clearance, don’t worry—you can easily add more space. Simply purchase an M6 x 30mm screw and use two 6mm spacers instead. This will give you a total of 12mm of extra clearance, ensuring your foot has plenty of room.

Customize Your Ride

Remember, a bike that’s perfectly customized to you makes for a better riding experience. Small adjustments like this are a normal part of making your e-bike truly yours. If you find that something doesn’t feel quite right, don’t hesitate to make adjustments. Your comfort and safety are what matter most.
