Battery Management System (BMS) Protection
The StormX battery includes a built-in Battery Management System that automatically protects against:
- Overcharge Protection — Prevents charging beyond safe voltage limits
- Over-discharge Protection — Shuts off output before voltage drops too low, preserving battery health
- Overcurrent Protection — Cuts off if discharge current exceeds safe limits
- Short Circuit Protection — Instantly disconnects in case of a short circuit
- Low Temperature Charge Protection — Prevents charging below 32°F (0°C) to protect cell health and prevent damage
- Over-temperature Protection — Monitors cell temperature and shuts down if too hot
- Cell Balancing — Keeps all cells at equal voltage for maximum lifespan
Battery Care Tips
- Charge regularly — Do not leave the battery fully discharged for extended periods. Charge at least once every 2-3 months even if not riding.
- Avoid extreme temperatures — Do not charge below 32°F (0°C) or above 113°F (45°C). Store indoors when possible.
- Store at 50-70% charge — If storing for more than 2 weeks, charge to about 60% before storing.
- Use the included charger — Only use the charger provided with your StormX. Third-party chargers may damage the battery or void your warranty.
- Keep it dry — The battery is splash-proof (IPX4) but should not be submerged. Wipe dry after riding in rain.
- Inspect regularly — Check for any visible damage, swelling, or unusual odors. If you notice any, stop using the battery and contact support.
Battery Indicator
The battery level is displayed on the StormX dashboard. The indicator shows:
- Full bars — Battery is fully charged
- 1 bar remaining — Low battery, charge soon
- Flashing / empty — Battery is critically low, the bike will reduce power to protect the battery
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the battery last?
With proper care, the battery is designed to retain at least 80% of its original capacity after 500 full charge cycles, which is approximately 3-5 years of normal use.
Can I ride in the rain?
Yes, the battery is IPX4 rated (splash-proof). Light to moderate rain is fine. However, avoid riding through deep puddles or submerging the battery.
Can I remove the battery for charging?
